The latest news from the Motor City.
The Detroit Lions have not made the playoffs since 1999, but that hasn’t stopped players from raising the performance bar.
Second year safety Louis Delmas said he would be “pissed” if the Lions reached eight wins this season and didn’t make the playoffs—a six win improvement.
“We know what we can do,” Delmas said Saturday at receiver Derrick Williams’ charity softball game in Royal Oak. “We just slipped up last year. I know that we lost a lot of games on last drives last year. It’s no surprise if we come out and get eight wins — I won’t be surprised at all. We know we can do it.”
The Lions have not been in short supply of confident players the last few seasons. Former quarterback Jon Kitna predicted 10 wins in 2007, and running back Kevin Smith predicted a playoff berth before last season.

Shit i'd be pissed to if they miss the playoffs.
I love the chemistry of players on the team, alot of up beat and positive players who are use to winning. I’ve been on the band wagon for 32 years and haven’t fell off yet, at the end of the year theirs going to be a few more wagons full of Lions fans… Bit that ass Detroit

Delmas...
should have his head examined if he believes both these things. If Det wins only 8 (a big step for that team) AND makes playoffs, that is a joke. What does that say about waht the rest of the NFC will do? It is a statement not thought through very well.
