Cabrera Still Trailing In All-Star Vote

Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera is the best shot Detroit has at getting a starter in the All-Star game, but he's still a long shot.

Cabrera is still a healthy 392,764 votes behind the Minnesota Twins' Justin Morneau at first base, and 211,365 behind the New York Yankees' Mark Teixeira. Gerald Laird, he of the .160 batting average, is fifth amongst catchers but is more than 2 million votes off leader Joe Mauer.

Outfielders Magglio Ordonez and Austin Jackson are 12th and 15th, respectively, at their positions.

The full voting results as of today are listed after the jump.

Laird?

Anybody who even thought of voting for him should be beheaded at a public execution. I mean, seriously…Laird?!?!?!

I think it's an even bigger crime

That Teixeira is ahead of Cabrera. Yeah Laird is awful, but he’s still 2 million off the lead. Teixeira is batting .229 with 37 RBIs…it’s criminal. They need to come up with a weighted vote or something.

Back off man, I'm a scientist
