The Detroit News' Tom Gage reports on Twitter that Danny Worth will be rejoining the Tigers as a shortstop rather than a second baseman like his last stint with the team. While Worth will not come back and suddenly be the starting SS, Gage had this to say about the opportunity that has presented itself with Adam Everett now gone:
Leyland didn't hand [Worth] the fulltime job, but it looks like he'll get the chance to win it.
Ramon Santiago has been a much better hitter than Everett so far this season, but it's not like Santiago is knocking the cover off the ball or anything. If Worth can consistently hit the ball well and knock in runners when he gets a chance to, then it's possible another rookie will be in the starting lineup for the Tigers.
