Former Bears CB Nathan Vasher Works Out For Lions

Stay connected for news and updates

Former Chicago Bears cornerback Nathan Vasher worked out for the Detroit Lions on Thursday, days before the two teams face each other to open the 2010 NFL season.

Vasher was one of the final cuts from the San Diego Chargers, who signed him back in March. The Chargers opted to keep younger, lower-salaried players who could man special teams on their roster, however.

Detroit could use some experience in the secondary, with Chris Houston and Jonathan Wade penciled in to start Sunday's opener versus the Bears. But as Pride of Detroit points out, Vasher's salary would not be guaranteed if he signs after Week 1, so it's unlikely the Lions will make a quick move here.

Last year with Chicago, Vasher appeared in 15 games, making 15 tackles with one interception. This will be his seventh NFL season.
