Cavaliers Vs. Pistons Final Score: Detroit Falls 105-89 In Home Opener To Cleveland

Stay connected for news and updates

The Detroit Pistons lost their season opener on Monday when they visited the Indiana Pacers, but they saved plenty of disappointment for their home opener, a flat 105-89 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday night.

This was not the way Detroit planned starting the season, falling to 0-2 with a pair of losses to Central Division foes. One very bright spot for the Pistons however was eighth overall draft pick Brandon Knight, who scored 23 points on 10-13 shooting from the field in 28 minutes off the bench.

First overall draft pick Kyrie Irving also shook off a nervous debut by contributing 14 points and 7 assists for the Cavaliers, who improve to 1-1 with the win. The Cavaliers controlled the game throughout and finished shooting 57.1 % from the field, pulling away in a 26-20 fourth quarter.

Detroit will try again for their first win of the season when they travel to face the Boston Celtics on Friday night in a game scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. eastern time.
