Michigan Basketball Commit Austin Hatch In Critical Condition After Plane Crash

Stay connected for news and updates

Austin Hatch, a 2013 basketball recruit who committed to Michigan just last week, was involved in a tragic plane crash on Friday night. At around 6:30 p.m., the single-engine plane flying Hatch, his father and his step-mother crashed into the garage of a house in Charlevoix, Michigan. The plane took off from Fort Wayne, Indiana, and was headed for Boyne Falls, Michigan.

Hatch, the only survivor of the plane crash, is reportedly in critical condition. Hatch's parents, Stephen and Kim, were killed in the crash. Austin has been transported to the Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.

Unbelievably, this isn't the first time the Hatch family has been involved in a tragic plane crash. In 2003, Austin and his father survived a crash after the plane they were on clipped a power pole. Hatch's mother Julie, siblings Lindsay and Ian and his dog died in the crash.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Austin Hatch and his family.
