Yesterday the Tigers acquired outfielder Delmon Young from the Twins in exchange for minor leaguer Cole Nelson and a player to be named later. That player to be named later has been named now [via Jason Beck]:
So apparently the PTBNL was actually a PTBNT (player to be named Tuesday). Lester Oliveros goes from the #Tigers to the Twins.
Oliveros has seen time with the Tigers’ Double-A, Triple-A and MLB teams this season. In nine games with the Tigers, he pitched in eight innings and had a 5.63 ERA (3.51 FIP). In Triple-A, he had a 6.43 ERA over 28 innings and a 0.53 ERA in 17 innings of Double-A.
Oliveros didn’t show much to be desired in his short stint with the Tigers this year, so in all, Young was had for relatively very little. This was a good deal for the Tigers in an attempt to inject some life into an inconsistent lineup for the home stretch this season and to acquire a still very young, proven talent in Young for the future.
