Pistons down Celtics, 103-83

The Detroit Pistons defeated the Boston Celtics Sunday night, 103-83, behind six players scoring in double digits and a strong defensive effort, holding Boston to only 14 points in the third quarter.

Detroit, who began the season with eight straight losses, has now won two-of-three, moving to 2-9 on the season. The Celtics drop to 6-5.

Greg Monroe led the way for the Pistons, scoring 20 points and adding 13 rebounds and three assists in the winning effort. Jason Maxiell and Kyle Singler scored 15 points and 14 points, respectively, and Rodney Stuckey added 14 points, five rebounds and five assists in 31 minutes off the bench.

On the losing side, rookie Jared Sullinger came off the bench to lead the Celtics in scoring with 16 points in 27 minutes. Rajon Rondo accounted for 10 of Boston's 12 total assists but added six turnovers as well in the loss. The Celtics shot 45-percent from the field but only 23-percent, 4-of-17, from behind the arc.

Detroit now heads to Orlando to face the 3-6 Magic on Wednesday, Nov. 21.
