The big story in the East Region of the 2012 NCAA tournament on Thursday was the game between Syracuse and UNC Asheville. Syracuse did win 72-65, but the Orange struggled with the No. 16 seed in the East Region and were on the verge of being upset until some extremely questionable calls allowed them to pull away. There has been a lot of outrage over the calls, but there's no changing the result, because Syracuse is moving on.
Here are all of the scores from the East Region on Thursday:
No. 1 Syracuse def. No. 16 UNC Asheville, 72-65
No. 8 Kansas State def. No. 9 Southern Miss, 70-64
No. 5 Vanderbilt def. No. 12 Harvard, 79-70
No. 4 Wisconsin def. No. 13 Montana, 73-49
No. 7 Gonzaga def. No. 10 West Virginia, 77-54
No. 2 Ohio State def. No. 15 Loyola (MD), 78-59
On Friday, No. 6 Cincinnati will take on No. 11 Texas and No. 3 Florida State will face No. 14 St. Bonaventure as the final games of the second round for the East Region are held.
