The Union College Dutchmen won the ECAC and earned the No. 1 seed in the East Region of the NCAA hockey tournament, which was surprising under their new first year coach Rick Bennett. Michigan State also has a new coach leading the way, Tom Anastos. Both new coaches will try and push their way to a championship in a strong field.
The Spartans have some experience since winning the NCAA championship in 2007. They may have a low impact offense but have played efficiently all season long en route to their at-large bid. Defender and CCHA Player of the Year winner Torey Krug has provided quite a bit of offense with 33 points, but the forwards haven't been quite as high caliber. That could be a problem against a Dutchmen team that has one of the best goaltenders in the college game, Troy Grosenick. Grosenick led the ECAC by far with his 1.65 GAA and 20-5-0 record.
Game Time: March 23, 3 p.m. ET
TV: ESPNU
