Michigan State Likely To Renovate Munn Ice Arena

Stay connected for news and updates

The Michigan State Spartans and their hockey teams are in need of a better arena, or at the very least, they're in need of some renovations. It's not one of the worst arenas in college, but there are some issues, including the fact that the school still needs to spend some money this offseason to get a new system to keep the ice cool. That being said, the school is likely looking toward renovation as opposed to a new arena entirely.

According to the Lansing State Journal, MSU athletic director Mark Hollis believes renovating Munn Ice Arena is the best course of action:

"Developing a new entry area, developing new offices. Enhancing the student-athlete area. What we have is not bad, but where we went to go is off the charts."

The report goes on to state that renovations and improvements could run the school around $20 million, a figure that sounds like an awful lot until the cost of a new arena is introduced at $70 million. There's some good information in the report, which notes some other things the school needs to take care of for the arena, so check it out.
