Lions Release LB Korey Bosworth, Sign S Reshard Langford

The Detroit Lions were hoping the second time around with linebacker Korey Bosworth was going to be better than the first time. In 2010, Bosworth, the nephew of Brian Bosworth, suffered a broken leg in 2010 and was placed on injured reserve, and was released by the Lions in 2011. He was re-signed back on Aug. 4, but according to Tim Twentyman on Twitter, he's been released once again:

Bosworth was originally signed when the team waived injured linebacker Ronnie Sneed. But the team now is looking for bodies at the safety position, mostly due to the fact that Louis Delmas is out. Delmas recently had surgery and there's no word on how long he'll be out. Delmas is a starter and has been plagued with injuries in the past, so that's a big question mark for the Lions.

On top of that, Amari Spievey missed Friday's preseason opener against the Cleveland Browns. According to Pride of Detroit, SB Nation's blog for the team, Spievey missed the game due to headaches. Jim Schwartz says that the injury likely isn't related to a concussion Spievey suffered in the Lions' playoff loss to the New Orleans Saints, but it was something that didn't appear on earlier injury reports so what's happening with him is certainly up in the air.

Langford has spent time on the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad and also spent time on the Kansas City Chiefs' regular season roster as an injury replacement in 2011.
