Buck Showalter, Mark Reynolds Ejected In Fifth Inning Of Tigers-Orioles Game

Baltimore Orioles manager Buck Showalter and first baseman Mark Reynolds were ejected for arguing in the bottom of the fifth inning Friday with Baltimore leading the Detroit Tigers 3-1.

Tigers batter Jhonny Peralta appeared to ground out to third base, but home plate umpire Tim Timmons overruled the call at first base, calling Peralta safe. Showalter and Reynolds both argued the call and were ejected. Reynolds, who was 0-for-3 in the game, was replaced at first base by Joe Mahoney, who is hit-less in three at-bats this season.

The Tigers tied the game in the bottom of the sixth inning on a two-run home run by Prince Fielder that scored Miguel Cabrera and Andy Dirks. The home run got Tigers starter Justin Verlander off the hook for the loss, but he was taken out at the start of the seventh inning with the game tied 3-3. Octavio Dotel replaced him.
