The Michigan Wolverines received one first-place vote en route to an eighth-place finish in the preseason AP Top 25 poll.

The Michigan Wolverines are No. 8 in the preseason AP Top 25 college football poll and the only team outside of the top four to receive a first-place vote.

Top-ranked Southern California received 25 of a possible 60 first-place votes. Alabama came in at No. 2 and LSU finished third in the poll following the team's dismissal of Heisman Trophy finalist Tyrann Mathieu. Like Michigan, fourth-ranked Oklahoma received one first-place vote.

Led by senior quarterback and Heisman contender Denard Robinson, the Wolverines are preseason favorites to win the Big Ten Conference in Brody Hoke's second season as the team's head coach. Michigan last won the Big Ten in 2004.

The Wolverines kick off their season in a nationally-televised matchup against No. 2 Alabama on Sept. 1 at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
