On Wednesday, the Detroit Lions announced that the team has officially reached a sellout for Friday night's preseason opener against the Cleveland Browns at Ford Field.

This will mark the second time in as many seasons that the Lions will be playing a preseason game at home in front of a sold-out crowd. Last preseason, the Lions' game against the New England Patriots also hit sellout status.

While the majority of starters are not expected to have an extended role, head coach Jim Schwartz values the experience that the game will bring. Via MLive.com:

"Everybody gets something out of playing," Schwartz said. Number one, trying to win the game. You want to go out and perform well individually, you want to perform well as a team, and try to win the game. That's always our number one goal. We're not going out there only working on our curve ball. It's not spring training. We're out there to execute."

Friday night's game will be televised locally on WXYZ-TV Detroit and will begin at 7:30 p.m. ET.
