The Michigan Wolverines will be without defensive end Brennen Beyer when they take on Massachusetts on Saturday.

On Monday, Michigan coach Brady Hoke announced that defensive lineman Brennen Beyer would not suit up for the Wolverines on Saturday, according to Kyle Meinke of MLive.com. Beyer injured his knee early against Air Force and did not return to the game, and may be out beyond Saturday's matchup against Massachusetts as well. According to the piece, Hoke said he hopes Beyer will return "in a couple weeks."

Beyer watched most of the 31-25 Michigan win on the sideline with an air cast on his right leg, and was seen walking with the help of crutches after the game. He's not a starter, losing his battle to Jibreel Black in camp, but he's been a regular part of the defensive line rotation and it's definitely a concern for No. 17 Michigan.

That being said, the Wolverines are favored to win by about 45 points on Saturday against UMass, and even if Beyer felt like he could go on Saturday, it's likely he'd be held out. That being said, the injury starts becoming a real concern a week from Saturday's game, when the Wolverines will take on No. 20 Notre Dame.

Beyer has just two tackles on this season, both of which came against Alabama, as he was gone from the Air Force game so quickly.
