The Central Collegiate Hockey Association has announced the schedule for its 2013 CCHA Championship Weekend, to be held on March 23-24, 2013, at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Michigan. The tournament will represent the final event for the conference, which will dissolve following the season as the Big Ten introduces hockey beginning with the 2013-14 season.
The main change from previous years is that there will not be a third-place game. Also, instead of the traditional Friday-Saturday format, the games will now be held on Saturday and Sunday. This is because the arena is not available for use on Friday.
The semi-final games will be played at 1:05 p.m. and 4:35 p.m. ET on Saturday, March 23. The championship game will take place at 2:05 p.m. ET on Sunday, March 24.
The 2013 tournament marks the 32nd time that the CCHA Championship will be played at Joe Louis Arena. With a lockout looming, one of the nation's best collegiate leagues could get more exposure than in previous years, making the finals a must-see event for hockey fans.
