Lions Lose To Bills, Set Road Losing Streak Record

Orchard Park, NY (Sports Network) - Fred Jackson ran for 133 yards with a score and also caught a pass for a touchdown, as Buffalo reached the win column for the first time this season with a 14-12 triumph over Detroit at Ralph Wilson Stadium.

Jackson carried the brunt of the ground game after C.J. Spiller left in the first half with a hamstring injury. Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 12-of-24 passes for 146 yards and a touchdown for the Bills (1-8), whose winless start after eight games was the worst for the franchise since an 0-11 start to the 1984 campaign.

The Lions rallied late when they scored with 14 seconds left after Shaun Hill found a wide open Calvin Johnson up the middle from 20 yards out. Detroit, though, failed to convert the two-point attempt and suffered a record 25th straight road loss.

Hill, who replaced an injured Matthew Stafford for the sixth time this season, passed for 323 yards on 29-of-50 attempts with a touchdown and an interception. The Lions dropped their second straight game on the heels of last week's overtime loss to the New York Jets. Johnson had 10 catches for 128 yards in defeat as Detroit broke its own mark of 24 straight road losses, set from 2001-03.

Lions Vs. Bills: Detroit Trails At Halftime, 7-3

At halftime in Buffalo, the winless Bills are leading the hapless Lions by a score of 7-3. The Lions look lost out there on offense without Matthew Stafford, struggling to consistently move the ball or get into any kind of rhythm. The defense hasn't been too bad for Detroit, but they did give up a big pass play to Lee Evans that led to the game's only touchdown.

Buffalo took a 7-0 lead on a one-yard Fred Jackson run. This came a drive after the Bills turned the ball over on downs, getting stuffed on fourth and short deep in Detroit territory. It was a big stop for the Lions, keeping the score tied at zero for the time being. The Bills punched it into the end zone on their next possession, though.

The Lions have struggled mightily on offense, finally getting points at the end of the second quarter on a 25-yard field goal by Dave Rayner. Shaun Hill was almost picked off twice on the drive after throwing an interception earlier in the game, which just about sums up how rough this game has been for the Lions on offense. They are outgaining the Bills, but overall it has just been an ugly performance.

The Bills will get the ball to start the second half, looking to build on their 7-3 lead.
