Lions Bring Back Dante Wesley, Release Randy Phillips

Stay connected for news and updates

The Lions made a move today involving a couple of defensive backs, signing Dante Wesley and releasing Randy Phillips.

Wesley is a defensive back who was with the Lions until being released during the final round of roster cuts. Someone like Phillips, an undrafted free agent safety, made the team thanks to his impressive play in the preseason, keeping the veteran Wesley off the team. Four weeks into the season, however, the Lions have decided to change things up, opting to sign the veteran and release the rookie.

Phillips is eligible for the practice squad, so I wouldn't be surprised if the Lions sign him to that if he clears waivers and wants to return.
