Lions Vs. Broncos: Detroit Won't Have To Deal With Willis McGahee As He's Out With Hand Injury

The Detroit Lions have a pretty solid front line of defenders to counteract most other team's rushing attacks. It probably doesn't hurt their feelings, however, to know that Denver Broncos starting running back Willis McGahee will miss this weekend's meeting due to a hand injury.

McGahee broke the fourth metacarpal in his right hand, according to the Denver Post, and will miss at least the Broncos game as Knowshon Moreno is vaulted back into the starting role. The last time McGahee faced the Lions was on Dec. 13, 2009, when the then-Baltimore Ravens back-up rushed for 76 yards and two touchdowns in a 48-3 rout of Detroit.

Moreno has appeared in four games for the Broncos this season, even starting their opening-game before being injured and allowing McGahee to take his starting spot. In those four games, the former Georgia running back has rushed 17 times for 54 yards while hauling in eight passes for 92 yards and a touchdown.

The Broncos running back situation probably won't be talked about much this week as the Tim Tebow hype continues, but it never helps when a starting skill player is ruled out so early in the week.
