Barry Sanders Will Do Monday Night Football Intro This Week

After news broke that Hank Williams Jr. and ESPN will part ways, the intro for Monday Night Football is suddenly without rowdy friends and an intro song. Enter Barry Sanders, natch:

Sanders, a former Lions running back, will narrate a new introduction to this week's Monday Night Football, which coincidentally features the Lions hosting the Bears.

"Ok, I admit it. I will be at MNF this week and doing the intro," Sanders posted on his Twitter account.

It's kind of sad that the classic, catchy intro song that's been kicking off MNF coverage for the last 20-plus years is no more, especially with the Lions making their first MNF appearance in the last 10 years, but the Barry intro should make it a bit more intimate for Lions fans.

There's been no spoiler alerts as to what the intro will consist of, but hopefully it'll be a slammin' music video.
