A win over the No. 30 team in this week's SB Nation NFL Power Rankings was not enough to move the Lions up, but it was enough to get them back into the playoff picture. The Lions are still holding firm at the No. 11 position according to Joel Thorman this week:
11. Detroit Lions (8-5, LW: 11): One of the league's most surprising stories are where they want to be at this point -- right in the middle of the playoff race. They just need to win out (maybe even two of three) to ensure they get in.
As mentioned, the Lions now control their own destiny toward making the playoffs. The fading Raiders and Chargers are next up on the schedule, and that might be enough to get into the playoffs before facing the possibly undefeated Packers in the final week of the season. Losses by the Cowboys and Bears this past week also greatly helped Detroit.
