Sep 20, 2011 - Thanks to impressive wins in each of the first two weeks of the season, the Detroit Lions are 2-0 for the first time since 2007. If the Lions want to start with a 3-0 record for the first time since 1980, they will have to win at the Minnesota Vikings for the first time since 1997.
Although the Lions and Vikings appear to be heading in opposite directions from a talent standpoint, Detroit can't take Minnesota lightly. The Vikings lost by only a touchdown at the San Diego Chargers in Week 1, and last week the Vikings were edged by only four points in a loss at home to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Considering how much the Lions have struggled at the Metrodome in the past, there are no guarantees that Sunday will produce a victory for Detroit.
The good news for the Lions is they haven't had a team with this much talent go to Minnesota in a long time. The Lions have put up the second most points in all of the NFL thanks to a 27-point day in Tampa Bay in Week 1 and 48 points on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs. The defense has also been outstanding, allowing the second fewest points in the league. Overall, the Lions have the highest point differential in the league by more than two touchdowns than the next closest team.
Right now the Lions are rolling and have won six straight games dating back to last season. If they can keep it up and get a victory in Minnesota, the Lions will be able to take a seven-game winning streak into Dallas when they play the Cowboys next week.
