2012 NFL Mock Draft: Lions Select CB Janoris Jenkins

Stay connected for news and updates

The first round of SB Nation's NFL bloggers 2012 NFL Mock Draft is over and Pride of Detroit selected North Alabama cornerback Janoris Jenkins with the 23rd overall pick. Via Pride of Detroit:

As tempting as it was to go defensive line in the first round for the Lions for the third year in a row and select somebody like defensive end Whitney Mercilus, I couldn't pass up the chance to improve the Lions' secondary.

Jenkins is usually considered the second or third best cornerback prospect in the draft, behind only Dre Kirkpatrick and Stephon Gilmore. The questions surrounding Jenkins are about off-the-field issues concerning run-ins with the law and being dismissed from Florida's football program.

While Jenkins certainly has the talent to bolster the Lions secondary, it is unlikely Detroit adds him to the team considering his history and the team's recent offseason notable drug arrests.
