The Detroit Lions opened their offseason organized team activities on Monday morning.

On Monday morning, the Detroit Lions took the practice field in Allen Park for their first organized team activity session of the offseason. Veteran players like Calvin Johnson, Matthew Stafford and Ndamukong Suh joined rookie players who worked out earlier in the month at a rookie-only minicamp.

While this may be the standard procedure that every team goes through every year, this year is different for the maturing Lions. Here's what Lions head coach Jim Schwartz had to say courtesy of The Detroit News:

"You can we're not installing new schemes offensively and defensively. We're in a position we haven't been in the last couple of years," Schwartz said. "This is fast becoming a veteran team that doesn't have to spend a lot of time with installation - we can work on fundamentals and making other wrinkles and progress."

First-round selection Riley Reiff worked with the second group of offensive lineman, playing the tackle position, and second-round draft pick Ryan Broyles was in uniform participating in position drills. Jahvid Best took part in early stretching and drills.
