Lions' Chris Greenwood, Ronnell Lewis, Ryan Broyles To Start Training Camp On Sidelines

On Tuesday morning, the Detroit Lions announced via the team's official website that cornerback Chris Greenwood and defensive end Ronnell Lewis will be placed on the physically unable to perform list when the club officially starts training camp on Friday.

Players who begin training camp on the PUP list can be reactivated at any time during camp, but if the player requires more time they will be placed on the regular season PUP list, which means the player will be ineligible to be activated until after the first six games of the season.

Greenwood underwent surgery to repair a torn abdominal muscle in May and has been rehabbing at the Lions' training facility in Allen Park since the operation, progressing far enough to participate in running drills.

Lewis was able to fully take part in the team's minicamp in June, but the details surrounding his injury are unclear at this time.

In addition, wide receiver Ryan Broyles was placed on the active/non-football injury list, as he is recovering from ACL surgery in his left knee from November. He is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season, but the sense is that the team will not rush his return.
