Detroit Lions Training Camp News: Offensive Line Shuffling Around In Practice

WIth left tackle Jeff Backus out of practice on Tuesday, the Detroit Lions offensive linemen shuffled around in order to plug the hole. There were two players who benefited from Backus' absence by being able to take reps at left tackle: Corey Hilliard and Jason Fox. Hilliard is a six-year pro who has been with the Lions since 2009, while Fox is a third-year pro from the University of Miami who was drafted by the Lions in 2010. Fox is seen as having the potential to be a starting tackle in the NFL, but due to injuries, he's only appeared in four games in his career.

The Lions have also been working first-round pick Reilly Reiff out at guard. Reiff, the No. 23 overall pick in the 2012 Draft, reportedly worked at third team guard on Tuesday. It was the second day in a row in which he practiced at guard.
