Ryan Broyles Earns Praise From Lions Head Coach Jim Schwartz

Wide receiver Ryan Broyles earned praise from head coach Jim Schwartz after his performance in Friday's preseason victory over the Baltimore Ravens, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.

Broyles played only ten snaps, but caught two passes for 26 yards. It was his awareness, however, that impressed Schwartz. On his second play from scrimmage, Broyles altered his route after he saw the Ravens cornerback blitz and freed himself up for a eight yard reception. On that particular play, Schwartz raved about his rookie receiver.

"They blitzed, he set his route down, did a really good job. Set himself up...He's going to get faster, his physical skills are going to get sharper as he goes on."

Broyles tore his ACL his senior year at the University of Oklahoma and subsequently fell in the draft before he was selected in the second round by the Detroit Lions. He is the all-time FBS receptions leader with 349 catches.
