The Detroit Lions wrapped up their preseason schedule with a 38-32 win over the Buffalo Bills on Thursday night, and they did so while avoiding any major injuries to players who are expected to contribute during the regular season. In fact, running back Mikel Leshoure returned from his struggles with injuries and put together a very nice game. Detroit's second-round draft pick from last year missed his rookie after tearing his left Achilles tendon during training camp and he missed some practice time early this year due to an injured right hamstring, but on Thursday he posted 43 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries in the win.
It remains to be seen how Leshoure may factor into the running back rotation during the regular season, but the positive production he flashed on Thursday left everyone feeling good.

The Detroit Lions held off a late Buffalo Bills rally to win 38-32 Thursday and complete the preseason with a 2-2 record.
Detroit led 28-7 after the first quarter, but Buffalo chipped away at the lead after both teams' backups started entering the game. The Lions led 28-24 at the end of the third quarter and a 39-yard field goal by Jason Hanson less than a minute into the fourth quarter extended the lead to 31-24.
The Bills took their first lead since they led 7-0 in the first quarter when Marcus Easley returned Hanson's ensuing kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown. Buffalo went for two and converted on a pass from Tyler Thigpen to Easley for a 32-31 lead.
Detroit re-took the lead on their next drive when Kellen Moore drove the Lions 80 yards and capped off the drive with a 1-yard touchdown run.
Moore finished 17-for-30 passing for 211 yards and a rushing touchdown. Mikel Leshoure had 15 carres for 43 yards and a touchdown. The Lions didn't turn the ball over and forced four Buffalo turnovers. The Bills finished this preseason winless.

After the Detroit Lions scored 28 consecutive points after falling behind 7-0, the Buffalo Bills have now scored 17 unanswered to cut Detroit's lead to 28-24 after three quarters.

Later in the quarter, after starting a drive in Detroit territory after a short punt by the Lions, Bills quarterback Tyler Thigpen found Dorin Dickerson for a 4-yard touchdown.
Lions kicker Jason Hanson missed a 51-yard field goal in the quarter. Quarterback Kellen Moore is 10-for-23 passing, but Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press notes that Moore's receivers have dropped at least five of his passes.

After the Detroit Lions and the Buffalo Bills combined for 35 first quarter points, Buffalo had the only score in the second quarter, getting a 30-yard field goal from Ryan Lindell to cut Detroit's lead to 28-10 at halftime.
Lindell's field goal capped off a nearly six minute drive by the Bills, who were aided by 29 yards in Detroit penalties on the drive.
Jason Hanson of the Lions attempted a 35-yard field goal midway through the second quarter, but it was blocked by Leodis McKelvin.
Detroit starting quarterback Matthew Stafford and backup Shaun Hill each played briefly. Stafford threw for a touchdown pass and completed 2-for-3 passes. For the preseason, he completed 26-of-37 passes for 360 yards and 3 touchdowns. Hill ran for a touchdown in his brief appearance.
Third string quarterback Kellen Moore has completed 4-for-10 passes for 48 yards. Mikel LeShoure has 14 carries for 41 yards and a touchdown.

The Detroit Lions opened up their final preseason game of 2012 on Thursday evening from Ford Field, and are currently leading the Bills 28-7 after one quarter of play.
Buffalo used a 5-for-5 performance from quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick to drive down the field in the game's first seven minutes and stun the Lions' defense, and quickly took the lead with a touchdown pass to star Bills receiver Stevie Johnson.
Though he came into the night expecting to only see one series of action, Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford made the most of his evening by hitting Mikel Leshoure on a swing pass that the second-year pro broke off for 33 yards on his very first pass. Stafford then went up top to star wide receiver Calvin Johnson for a 24-yard touchdown two plays later that tied the game at 7-7, and proved once again that not even two defenders can cover the 6'5", 230-pound athletic freak.
A forced fumble by safety Amari Spievey gave the Lions the ball right back after the Johnson score, which set up an easy touchdown from Leshoure to give Detroit a seven-point lead. A Shaun Hill sneak from a yard away added Detroit's third touchdown of the quarter soon thereafter to make the game 21-7, and sixth-round draft choice Jonte Green picked off Tyler Thigpen and took it 23 yards for a touchdown to bust the game wide open at 28-7.
