Both the Lions and 49ers won their opening games ahead of Sunday night's showdown in San Francisco.

Both the Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers won their opening games this past Sunday, and both will be looking to go to 2-0 when they meet in San Francisco on Sunday night. Much of the focus before kickoff will be on last season's handshake gone wrong, but both coaches have insisted that will be in the past come time to renew their rivalry.

The Lions are coming off of a thrilling opening game in which they scored the winning touchdown with 10 seconds left on the clock. Matthew Stafford threw for 355 yards and the winning touchdown, but his three interceptions were a large reason why the Lions needed last-second heroics in the first place. The Lions defense did a nice job against the Rams, limiting them to just 250 total yards on the day.

The 49ers had a tough opponent in the opener, and the 30-22 win against the Green Bay Packers should cement them as a legitimate contender in the NFC. Frank Gore had a big day on the ground for San Francisco with 112 yards, and the defense took away the Packers' running game by holding them to just 45 yards an the ground.

The Lions and 49ers are scheduled to kick off at 8:20 p.m. ET from Candlestick Park. The game will be aired on NBC.
