Louis Delmas Injury: Lions Safety Still Considered Week-To-Week

Though many fans have been patiently waiting for Detroit Lions safety Louis Delmas to get back on the field, head coach Jim Schwartz confirmed to Justin Rogers of MLive.com on Thursday that the fourth-year defender remains week-to-week while he recovers from knee surgery.

"There hasn't been any setbacks," Schwartz said. "It's just we're waiting for the knee to get better to get him back on the practice field and get him on the game field. I never said we expect to have him back. I only said, that's the objective."

Delmas was originally rumored to be capable of making an early-season return almost immediately after his surgery, but even six weeks ago Schwartz made sure to let reporters know that his talented defensive back was week-to-week as opposed to day-to-day at the time. And now, after well over a month, the safety appears to be viewed in the exact same light on the team's injury report.

While it's clear the Lions probably won't have Delmas back until at least the second-half of the year, the returns of Bill Bentley and Chris Houston to practice this week should be a serious help for the team's thin secondary in Week 3 against the Titans.
