The Detroit Lions will likely open their 2012 season without a couple of key members of the secondary in cornerback Chris Houston and safety Louis Delmas, according to the team's latest injury report. The St. Louis Rams visit Ford Field on Sunday.
Houston is still recovering from an ankle injury, while Delmas is trying to get back on track following an injured knee. Both are listed as 'doubtful' after missing practice a total of four times each this week.
Coach Jim Schwartz is leaving the door open to possible playing time for each player by making them "doubtful" rather than simply "out," according to the report.
Schwartz noted that since both players are experienced, they have a higher chance of playing on the fly should they make quick enough recoveries. From the article:
Both of them are veteran players; both guys can step in and play with little or no practice time. But we'll just see when we get to Sunday.
