The Detroit Pistons (8-20) doubled their win total for the season in a week's time by winning four games in a row. They will attempt to extend that winning streak to five games when they host the Washington Wizards (5-22) on Sunday evening at the Palace at Auburn Hills.
Center Greg Monroe has emerged as a force in the middle for the Pistons during their recent stretch of success, averaging 20 points and over 12 rebounds per game while logging a double-double in each of the last four wins. While Monroe leads the team in scoring for the season (16.5 ppg), the Pistons rely on a balanced attack with six different players averaging double figures.
The Wizards no longer have the worst record in the league but they continue to struggle after Randy Whitman took over for Flip Saunders as the head coach in late January. The Wizards won two of the first three games after the coaching change but have since lost six of seven games.
Nick Young (17.1 ppg) and John Wall (16.4 ppg) lead the Washington offensive attack but the Wizards really struggle to stop opponents on the defensive end. In their last six games the Wizards have allowed at least 106 point per game, a point total Detroit has only surpassed once this year, in their last win over New Jersey.

Pistons Vs. Wizards: Detroit Falls 98-77 To Washington
The Detroit Pistons had put together a fantastic run as of late with four straight wins to drag themselves a bit out of the hole they dug themselves into at the start of the season, but a weak second half showing on Sunday doomed them as they fell to the Washington Wizards, 98-77.
Michigan born JaVale McGee was the big name for the Wizards, putting up not only a fantastic defensive performance but also 22 points and 11 rebounds. Nick Young had 22 points as well for the Wizards as they picked up only their sixth win of the year.
Detroit held the game in their own regard for the first half, leading to a 45-45 halftime score; the Wizards then exploded out of the gate and kept Detroit from scoring more than 18 in either second half quarter. In the fourth, the Pistons were outscored 24-10.
Greg Monroe was a bright spot for the Pistons as usual, getting 27 points to lead all scorers from both teams in the game.
