Pistons Schedule 2012: Detroit Meets New Jersey Yet Again During Weekend

Whatever schedule maker decided that it would be funny to have the Detroit Pistons play the New Jersey Nets three times in nine days probably didn't know that it would be the Pistons with the advantage going into round three of it. The Pistons knocked off New Jersey in their last game for their third win in a row and second road win of the year. The Pistons are now on a certified roll, so with the next Jersey game coming in Detroit at The Palace, the Nets might want to watch out.

The Nets did get some good news recently when they found out that Deron Williams will be a 2012 all star, but past that it's been doom and gloom the last week or so for the 8-19 Nets.

Sunday the Pistons get to see some new faces when they face the Washington Wizards, who are doing even worse than the Pistons this season. There's been no three game winning streaks for the 5-21 Wizards who continue to seem like John Wall and friends more than an actual basketball team.

NBA Power Rankings 2012: Pistons Rank 27th

The Detroit Pistons have won back-to-back games for the second time this season, after defeating the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday at home and then topping the New Orleans Hornets at home on Saturday at home. And they have a chance to make it three in a row when they play the New Jersey Nets on Wednesday.

Still, the Pistons rank 27th in the latest edition of NBA Power Rankings at SB Nation.

Greg Monroe looks like a sure thing, but Brandon Knight isn't there yet despite a nice trial by fire this season. Detroit desperately needs a few more high draft picks that pay out.

Detroit, after all, is just 1-12 on the road, and they have still scored 100 points only once all season.

And while rookie Brandon Knight has usually been a bright spot, he broke his nose in the game on Saturday, and was fitted for a mask that he'll wear on Wednesday against the Nets. You can check out Detroit Bad Boys for a picture of the mask.

Pistons Schedule 2012: Detroit Faces New Jersey Twice In One Week

The Detroit Pistons have seemingly had busy weeks every single week since December of 2011. They've been going through five game gauntlets at times, so they've deserved a week off, especially with the season they've been having so far. Even with a two game winning streak, at 6-20 there's not many teams in the NBA having a year quite as bad as Detroit have had so far. To add injury to insult, players have been dropping left and right for the Pistons.

The schedule makers were kind to the Pistons this week, giving them only two games to play. Wednesday brings the first contest, a match against the New Jersey Nets only a week after they last met, with Jersey taking a 99-96 win. With plenty of rest and a two game winning streak on their heels, this might be the best chance in a while for the Pistons to finally get a second win on the road in 2012 -- their only other road win was back in early January when they beat the hapless Charlotte Bobcats.

They'll see New Jersey again on Friday, followed by the Washington Wizards on Sunday.
