Pistons Vs. Heat: Miami Rolls To Blowout Win

The Detroit Pistons went to South Florida looking to pull an upset, but instead saw exactly why the Miami Heat are one of the best teams in the NBA and one of the favorite to win the NBA title. Miami was completely dominant on both ends of the floor on Sunday and rolled to a 98-75 win over Detroit.

The Heat played without Dwyane Wade, but it did not matter as Lebron James had 26 points and Chris Bosh added 22. James Jones also had 18 points off the bench as Miami used a 31-19 second quarter and held the Pistons to only 14 points in the third quarter to earn the win.

Brandon Knight led the Pistons with 16 points, but the Pistons had 19 turnovers and shot only 37.3% from the field in the loss.

Pistons Vs. Heat Score Update: Detroit Overwhelmed In Second, Behind 50-40 At Half

As quickly as the Detroit Pistons snagged a brief lead on the Miami Heat after one quarter in Sunday's game, reality set in and the 2012 title favorites quickly took hold of the game soon thereafter.

The Pistons, who were outscored 31-19 in the second, are 2-for-10 from three-point land and 4-for-7 from the free-throw line as a team. Rookie point guard Brandon Knight leads the way for Detroit offensively with nine points, but has only dished out one assist in a game where Pistons scorers have struggled to find consistent shots.

For Miami, the obvious key to its second quarter surge was due to none other than 6'11" forward Chris Bosh, who has 14 points and five rebounds and is 6-of-8 from the charity stripe. Bosh and MVP candidate LeBron James have combined for 29 points despite James' woeful 1-for-5 shooting night at the foul line. Detroit will have to shore up its interior defense it if hopes to make a meaningful comeback after the break.

Pistons Vs. Heat Score Update: Detroit Leads Miami 21-19 After One

The Detroit Pistons, one of the worst road teams in the NBA at just 6-22 away from home, lead the Miami Heat in South Beach 21-19 after one quarter of play on Sunday. The Pistons closed the period on a 9-2 run, and used a pair of free throws from guard Will Bynum to take a two-point advantage into the second quarter.

The Pistons have been able to keep the Heat at bay from the three-point line (0-for-6), while Miami has not done itself any favors by making just one of six attempts from the charity stripe. MVP candidate LeBron James leads all players with eight points, and has also chipped in two rebounds and a block.

For the Pistons, guards Rodney Stuckey (6 points) and Brandon Knight (5 points) have each wasted little time finding the bottom of the net. Big man Greg Monroe has also added six points, two rebounds and one assist, and is 3-for-5 from the field.
