Red Wings Beat Blackhawks, 3-2, In Preseason Home Opener

Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - Henrik Zetterberg scored the eventual game-winner early in the second period, as the Detroit Red Wings snuck past the reigning Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks, 3-2, in preseason action.

Jan Mursak and Tomas Holmstrom also lit the lamp for the Red Wings, who fired 36 shots on net. Jimmy Howard got the start in net and stopped 7-of-8 shots, while Joey MacDonald made 10 saves in relief.

Jeremy Morin and Brandon Pirri each had a goal and an assist for the Blackhawks, who had 19 shots on goal. Corey Crawford played the entire game in net and made 33 saves.
