Let's just gloss over the fact that the Anaheim District-Five Ducks were on their last leg of a seven-game road trip, itching to get back to their pond (so itchy, Teemu Selanne got a head start by picking up a game misconduct in the third period).
Instead, let's focus on the Red Wings, who were on a six-game losing streak and in desperate need of some goals (which usually lead to wins). Not a bad time for the big guns to bring their A-game, right?
Goals from stars Niklas Kronwall, Henrik Zetterberg, Nicklas Lidstrom (twice), and Johan Franzen gave the Red Wings more than enough for an easy 5-0 win to snap the losing streak. Franzen added two assists while Lidstrom and Pavel Datsyuk also had an assist each.
The Red Wings peppered Jonas Hiller with 45 shots and only allowed the Ducks 19. Jimmy Howard saved them all, of course.
