Red Wings Vs. Jets Final Score: Detroit Stays Hot With 7-1 Win Over Winnipeg

Despite getting outshot 30-29, the Red Wings made the most of their opportunities on Saturday night, like they did on Thursday night, lighting the lamp a season high seven times, more than enough to end Winnipeg's four-game winning streak.

The Jets didn't get into town until early this morning, so the Red Wings had a distinct advantage against their future divisional foes. After falling behind within the first 25 seconds of the game, Detroit responded with seven unanswered, six of them coming in the first two periods, running the Jets ragged by the end of the game.

Six different Wings scored, Jiri Hudler (6) being the only one to find the net twice. Todd Bertuzzi (3) and Henrik Zetterberg (6) scored in the first; Hudler, Chris Conner (1), Valtteri Filppula (10), and Drew Miller (3) scored in the second; and Hudler put the cherry on top in the third period.  If you watch just one highlight from the game, though, make it be the Filppula goal in the second period -- Pavel Datsyuk made a remarkable backhanded pass to set Filpp up for his 10th of the season.

The Wings chased Jets' backup goalie Ondrej Pavelec in the third after he gave up his seventh goal of the night on just 26 shots faced. Starter Chris Mason made saves on all three shots he faced in relief.

Meanwhile, Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard continued his brilliant season, making 29 saves on 30 shots faced. It helped him notch his NHL-leading 17th win and improved his goals against average to 1.85, third best in the NHL.

Detroit scored 12 goals opposite just three on the brief two-game homestand and are now 1st in the West in plus-minus (+26). They head to Pittsburgh for a game vs. the Penguins on Tuesday night.
