Red Wings Vs. Predators Final Score: Detroit Gives Up 2 Late Goals, Falls 4-3 To Nashville

Stay connected for news and updates

Clinging to a goal lead with less than five minutes remaining in the game, the Red Wings went a man down due to a Jimmy Howard hooking penalty. A few minutes later, the Wings found themselves all of a sudden down a goal.

The Predators took advantage of the Howard penalty served by Justin Abdelkader by scoring on a Shea Weber slap shot at 15:36 of the third to tie the game at 3-3. Less than three minutes later, Weber scored again at 18:24 on a wrister he threw toward the net, which was deflected past Howard to give the Predators a 4-3 lead and the game winner.

Detroit took a 3-1 lead in the second period within 90 seconds after goals by Henrik Zetterberg and Nicklas Lidstrom, but Jordin Tootoo's goal six minutes later, in a period the Predators only had five shots, cut the score to 3-2 going into the third period.

The Red Wings outshot the Predators 40-21 and were 2-for-2 on the power play, but the late third period let down costed them their three-game winning streak. They're back in action on Saturday at home vs. the Kings
