Red Wings Vs. Flames Final Score: Detroit's Rally Comes Up Short In 3-2 Loss

The Detroit Red Wings closed out the Western Canada portion of their road trip with a second consecutive loss. After losing to the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday, the Red Wings fell to the Calgary Flames on Thursday by a score of 3-2.

The Red Wings actually played quite well at the end of Thursday's game. They had an outstanding third period in which two goals were scored. Unfortunately, they were down 3-0 going into the period. The two goals (by Jiri Hudler and Ian White) were not enough for the Wings to overcome the deficit they faced after the first 40 minutes.

Detroit did come close to tying the game on multiple occasions as time was ticking down. Henrik Zetterberg hit the crossbar late in the game after a nice play, for example. The Red Wings nearly managed to put the puck in the net in the final minutes, too. The Flames staved off the rally to hold on for the win, though.

The Red Wings are off until Dec. 26, when they will head to Nashville to take on the Predators for the second time in 11 days.
