Red Wings Trade Rumors 2012: Detroit Reportedly Makes Offer For Tampa Bay's Pavel Kubina

Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Pavel Kubina, 34, is leaving Tampa Bay before the Feb. 27 NHL trade deadline, but just where is yet to be determined.

The veteran is being held out of games and Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman worked with Kubina to generate a list of five teams he'd be willing to waive his no-trade clause to play for. The Detroit Red Wings have to be on that list and according to MLive.com, the Red Wings have already made an offer for Kubina.

Yzerman traded center Dominic Moore on Thursday and is looking to use his veterans to gather future assets in young players and draft picks. For the Red Wings, Kubina would offer some needed depth.

Kubina is big and strong (6-foot-4, 258) and has a booming shot from the point. He shoots right-handed and would be slotted onto the Red Wings' third pairing and second power-play unit. Defenseman Ian White and forward Jan Mursak are Detroit's only right-handed shooters.

For the season, Kubina has three goals, eight assists for 11 points and a plus-1 rating while logging 59 penalty minutes for Tampa Bay.
