Detroit depth takes another hit.

The Detroit Red Wings are suddenly struggling to win games and had to endure yet another injury setback in the team's 4-3 loss on Saturday night to the Colorado Avalanche.

Defenseman Jonathan Ericsson was busy killing a penalty when the puck caught his left wrist causing a chip fracture. According to post-game reports, Ericsson is expected to be sidelined for a month while recovering from the injury.

Ericsson has been a reliable fixture in the Red Wings' lineup this season, playing in every game at a plus-17 with one goal and nine assists. Ericsson joins leading scorer Pavel Daysyuk on sidelines with and out of action. Datsyuk should be able to return in a little over a week after having arthroscopic surgery on his knee this past Tuesday.

Detroit may not want to ride out the injuries and instead make a deal to add to their depth as they fight for the top spot in the Western Conference.
