Nicklas Lidstrom, the 19-year veteran defenseman of the Detroit Red Wings, will miss both of the team's games this weekend due to a bone bruise in his ankle.

Nicklas Lidstrom, the 19-year veteran defenseman of the Detroit Red Wings, will miss both of the team's games this weekend due to a bone bruise in his ankle. Via the official Red Wings Twitter account:

The Red Wings captain was scratched from Tuesday's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets because of the ankle. He will be reevaluated on Monday.

Lidstrom has recorded 10 goals and 21 assists this season for Detroit, which leads the Central Division with a record of 42-19 and 87 points.The Red Wings have lost three of their last four games, but look to get back on track with two home games this weekend.
