The Detroit Red Wings will have a three-goal deficit going into the third period, as they trail the Washington Capitals 4-1 at The Joe Louis Arena.
Trailing 3-0 going into the second period, the Red Wings lit the lamp 5:15 into the period on a Kyle Quincey power play goal, taking advantage of a Matt Hendricks holding penalty.
Unfortunately, the Capitals struck back just minutes before the second intermission when Keith Aucoin snuck one by Wings' goaltender Jimmy Howard for his third goal of the season.
The Red Wings continue to outshoot the Caps, 22-19, but Washington has all the breaks. Assuming the Capitals hang on, the Red Wings will be looking at a five-game losing streak and nine losses in their last 12 games.
