Transaction: Xavier Ouellet and Ryan Sproul have both been signed to three-year entry-level contracts.— Detroit Red Wings (@DetroitRedWings) March 25, 2012
Ouellet was selected with the 35th pick as Detroit's second rounder last summer, while Sproul went a few picks later at No. 55. Sproul, who has played in the Ontario Hockey League for the past two seasons, has amassed 37 goals and 50 assists in 122 career games for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. Ouellet, who is still only 18, sports a +47 rating in 120 games in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
Both players are expected to factor into the Wings' defensive rotation in the coming seasons, and represent two of the more promising youngsters in Detroit's organization.
