The Detroit Red Wings lost a very frustrating Game 4, 3-1, and have fallen behind in the first-round series 3-1 with Game 5 returning to Nashville on Friday.
The Red Wings dominated the first two periods, outshooting the Predators 28-10, but had absolutely nothing to show for it. In the third period, the Predators took advantage of their opportunities, while the Red Wings continued to come up empty on the majority of theirs.
Gabriel Bourque scored the game's first goal less than two minutes into the third, taking advantage of a lucky bounce off a Wings defender. Here it is:
The Wings finally turned on that light behind the goal, answering Bourque's goal with a power-play goal from Jiri Hudler moments later to tie the game at 1-1:
The game-winning goal by the Predators' Kevin Klein came a little over three minutes later, though -- after Hudler hit the post -- on a play that's pretty hard to put into words... Watch:
David Legwand added the cherry on top at 19:21 when he simply slapped at Dan Cleary's stick as he was trying to escape from behind the Wings' net and the puck slipped through Jimmy Howard's legs. We have video of that disappointment, too:
Game 5 is on Friday with the puck dropping at 8 p.m.

The Red Wings are dominating the Nashville Predators through two periods of action in Game 4, but they have nothing to show for it on the scoreboard. After two periods, it remains 0-0 with the Predators up 2-1 in the series.
Detroit outshot the Predators 17-3 (!) in the second period, but the Wings cannot figure out a way to get it by Predators goalie Pekka Rinne. He now has 28 saves to Jimmy Howard's 10.
Despite the gross discrepancy in the shots category, the Predators probably had the better scoring opportunities in the second. Kyle Quincey made a nice back-check play on the puck to prevent one clean look on net.
The Red Wings are now 0-for-4 on the power play after failing to convert on the only man advantage in the second period.
This game has extremely frustrating loss written all over it and the Red Wings facing elimination in Nashville in Game 5. I hope I'm wrong, obviously.

The Red Wings desperately need a Game 4 win at Joe Louis Arena and seem to have picked up where they left when they controlled the latter half of the action in Game 3, but through the first period there is no score.
The Red Wings have won 15 of the 27 face-offs and have an 11-7 shot advantage, but they couldn't light the lamp. Detroit was 0-for-3 on the power play. The Predators did not have their first shot on goal until almost four minutes into the game and were 0-for-2 with a man advantage.
Detroit had a few quality chances to Pekka Rinne's right, but each time the Wings couldn't sneak it by his pads. The Red Wings need to keep the pressure on in the second period and hope they can catch a break.

Once again the Nashville Predators will be without defenseman Hal Gill. He has yet to play a game since inuring his lower body while blocking a shot on April 5 and will miss Game 4, according to Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press.
Trotz says Hal Gill (lower body) is improving, but is not in tonight for Game 4.

The veteran Gill played in 23 games for the Predators after starting the season with the Montreal Canadiens. He had 13 points this season.
Without Gill, Nashville will look to get a road win to push the series score to 3-1 against the Detroit Red Wings. The Predators won Game 3 on Sunday by a score of 3-2.
