Detroit Red Wings defenseman Kyle Quincey will face a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety after elbowing Tomas Kopecky in the head during the Wings 2-1 win over Florida on Sunday.
Detroit Red Wings defenseman Kyle Quincey earned himself a major penalty and a game misconduct during the Wings 2-1 shootout victory over the Florida Panthers on Sunday and in doing so, earned himself a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety. Quincey left his feet and charged with his arm as he elbowed Tomas Kopecky in the head at 5:38 of the third period. According to Nick Kypreos on twitter, the hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m.
The league has been cracking down hard on concussions and head injuring plays hard the past year, so a play like that was naturally going to come up especially with the in-game punishment that Quincey had received from the officials.
