The latest news from the Motor City.
Playing winter ball can be an important step in development for a major or minor league prospect. What better way to work on improving flaws in your game, build on what was learned during the regular season, or to show your organization that you're serious about playing baseball?
With that in mind, the Detroit Tigers announced the players from their system that will be playing more baseball this winter. For the sake of space, we'll just list those who saw major league time with the Tigers this year and where they'll be playing.
Ramon Santiago: Dominican Republic, Gigantes
Robbie Weinhardt: Puerto Rico, Senadores
Casper Wells: Puerto Rico, Senadores
Enrique Gonzalez: Venezuela, Tiburones
Jeff Frazier: Dominican Republic, Estrellas
Alfredo Figaro: Dominican Republic, Estrellas
Get your Senadores and Estrellas tickets now, Tigers fans! Weinhardt and Wells are on Twitter, too, so maybe we'll be getting some interesting anecdotes from Puerto Rico.
