Daniel Schlereth Optioned To Toledo, Tigers Call Up Thad Weber

Daniel Schlereth was sent down to AAA Toledo after giving up three hits, including a home run, in two innings during Saturday's first doubleheader against the Rangers. The Tigers recalled Thad Weber to pad out the bullpen.

The Detroit Tigers optioned Daniel Schlereth to AAA Toledo following Saturday's first doubleheader against the Texas Rangers. To compensate the move, the Tigers have recalled Thad Weber to take Schlereth's spot in the bullpen. Schlereth gave up three hits and an earned run off of a Mike Napoli home run in the final two innings of Saturday's 10-4 loss. He heads to Toledo with a 10.29 ERA on the season.

Weber will provide the bullpen with a long relief option after Duane Below was forced to pitch six innings once starter Rick Porcello was pulled for giving up eight runs in the first inning of Saturday's loss. Weber has given up just five hits in 12 innings this season as a starter for Toledo. He owns a 2-0 record and a 0.75 ERA at the moment.
