Tigers Sign RHP David Kopp To Minor-League Deal

The Detroit Tigers have signed David Kopp to a minor-league contract.

On Friday afternoon, the Detroit Tigers announced that they have signed right-handed pitcher David Kopp to a minor-league contract. Kopp was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the second round of the 2007 draft but has yet to make a start in the major leagues. The 26-year-old will be reporting to extended spring training in Lakeland.

In five years in the Cardinals system, Kopp posted a 22-22 record and one save in 91 appearances and 63 starts. His cumulative ERA was 4.33 and recorded a strikeouts-to-walk ratio of 237-155. His most successful season came in 2010 while pitching for AA Springfield where he finished the year with a 12-4 record and a 3.05 ERA. Overall, Kopp's most successful years came at AA Springfield where he posted a cumulative record of 16-10 and a 4.30 ERA over three seasons.
